Arnout and Sander Brinks of Tangarine have been the most famous singing brothers in the Netherlands for a decade and have become indispensable in the music landscape. They sing as only identical twins can. "Singing together, so beautiful that it seems to come from one mouth instead of two, wrote "de Volkskrant".
On June 23, 2023, the new full length album called 'Blank Cassette' will be released. An album that is characterized by strong melody lines and two-part harmonies and sounds both familiar and evokes a nostalgic feeling for the west coast and soft rock of the 1970s. The record includes the singles 'Big Star', 'City to the Country' and 'On the Road', with which they were frequently heard on radio and TV in the past year.
In 2014, Tangarine gained national fame as the house band of 'De Wereld Draait Door' and conquered the hearts of TV viewers. In the following years they released 4 albums, 2 EPs and several singles. Including the album 'There and Back', which they recorded together with the renowned American band Calexico in 2016. The brothers traveled to almost every stage in the Netherlands and played at festivals such as Lowlands, Haldern Pop and Into The Great Wide Open. Arnout and Sander were also named 'best dressed artist' by Esquire in 2017.
In addition to the release of the new album, Tangarine will be seen frequently on stage in the coming period, including this fall with their theater tour 'Running in the Family'.
Biography:
Tangarine is a Dutch folk duo, consisting of the twins Sander Brinks (vocals, guitar) and Arnout Brinks (vocals, guitar).
'Tangarine' is formed by the twin brothers Sander and Arnout. They were born in Lelystad and moved to Assen at the age of nine. From the age of twelve, the brothers started writing and composing songs. Because they could not find a booker and record label, they decided to do everything themselves. They released a number of records, sometimes played together with their band 'Tangarine & Friends' and traveled all over the country to give performances (which they usually organized themselves).
In 2011 they played as support act for Tim Knol, where they came into contact with keyboard player Matthijs van Duijvenbode. He put them on the trail of Excelsior Recordings. In February 2012 they played in De Wereld Draait Door. An album that had already been recorded was scrapped and Tangarine recorded a new album, Seek & sigh, with Frans Hagenaars and Van Duijvenbode as producers. The album was released on April 12, 2013.
In the 2013/2014 season, Tangarine was the permanent house band of the television program De Wereld Draait Door.
On June 23, 2023, the new album Blank Cassette was released. The album includes the singles Big Star and City to the Country. For the recordings, the brothers worked together with producers Martijn Groeneveld and Christon Kloosterboer. Many musicians also play on the album, including a contribution by saxophonist Benjamin Herman in the song Still Kids.
